Welcome to Freemasonry…
The members of James E. Bullen Lodge extend a warm welcome to you. Our website is open to everyone, and we intend our presentation to be informative to Masons and Non-Mansons alike.
Formed in 1988, James E Bullen Lodge is relatively young in the 300-year history of freemasonry. However, our aims and objectives mirror those of every other lodge.
We formally meet five times a year at Cosham Masonic Centre which are called regular meetings. During these occasions, we conduct a ceremony with many historic connections, providing opportunities for members to join in and, across the year, to progress to more senior roles, but most importantly, we introduce new members to the fraternity.
After each meeting, we enjoy dinner in a relaxed environment where the hall is a vibrant cacophony of nattering members and visitors, catching up with old friends, and forming new friendships. We enjoy a small number of formal toasts, and we welcome and embrace visitors to our lodge. Small speeches inform us about activities in neighbouring lodges, and we raise funds for charity through raffles and draws, which are always a fun aspect of our evening.
We pride ourselves on our work, both during our time in the Lodge room and in the cause of charity. Charity is at the heart of our very purpose, and your research may lead you to discover just how much Masonic charity improves the lives of everyday folk. Our work in the local community and fundraising to assist those less fortunate is a year-round activity to which we commit with much energy, enthusiasm, and vigour, as there is no denying that the needs of others are of the greatest importance.
Freemasonry is a fully inclusive fraternity with members from all backgrounds, walks of life and age ranges. It is the ultimate leveller, a society where friendship and goodwill are central to us all. Giving something back to the local community while doing something you enjoy is immensely gratifying. Our Lodge has a strong membership, with new members joining every year, and we hope to continue on our path, growing in numbers, having fun, making friends and always – extending love and respect through our actions whilst being ever mindful of the needs of others.
We look forward to meeting and welcoming you in the future.
